He wrote, If you know the Way broadly,
You will see it in everything.

He said, …I fear the man who has practiced one kick
Ten thousand times.

So I’ll do this the way I breathe.
The way I see and hear.
The way I touch and trust my skin to guide me.
I’ll write this poem ten thousand times.
Then I’ll write it again ten thousand more.
I’ll do it until I lose count and forget
What it was like to not do it at all.
Like learning to walk and never looking back.

Every step is the first and every step takes me closer.
There are distances that can’t be measured in numbers.
Some need the span of a thought. Others need
The age of a memory. And sometimes neither
Says anything and so I carve into the dark
With only instinct as my guide.

So I follow the Way. I’ll be blind ten
Thousand times until I learn a new way to see.
I’ll breathe and I’ll see and I’ll hear and I’ll walk
And I’ll carve and carve to get to the core.
Better git it in your soul like He said.
So I’ll carve deep.
Better git it in my soul.
