Ragnarok

Valedictions in sunset tone as the world collapses into kiss.
The taste of syzygy on lips signals forever and this is it.
And that was it.
Emptiness traced with hollow hands.
Distance measured in lonely nights.
Pain measured in sleeplessness.
Sauvignon in surfeit doesn’t kill your scent.

I count the years in fingertips,
each one a gravity collapse.
Memory is black in your non-existence,
desolation of sheets half-warm in
half-life forever diminishing to dark.
I could destroy the world to bring you back.

No scream enough to bend space-time–
force of will crushed by granite night.
Balled-up fists kill the silence.
Anger eats the void, turns on itself.
I gather the heat of my dreams,
one where you chose life, one where it was me,
to light my cells on fire and summon an erupting sun.
