Eric says his past is shaped like America.
Alicia laments that all the good men are gone.

Eric thinks this is funny and laughs.
Carlos is almost drunk and he says so himself
as he begins to nod off. Don’t bother me,
he says, as he crosses his arms and tilts
his head back. No one bothers him.
Megan says she’s worried they’re
going to start bombing us soon.
Eric says that’s fine because he’s
lived all the life there is to live.
Alicia says she just wants what her parents had.
Diana says what our parents had was a lie.
Tony calls Jackie and says he’s on his way.
He says he missed the exit because
some asshole cut him off.
Jackie rolls her eyes and says this man
is late to everything.
Maya is a palm reader and says nothing at all.
Diana tells Eric he needs to get over Abby and move on.
Eric says it doesn’t matter.
He says the time for love is long past.
Carlos smiles because he likes
the way Eric talks.
José tells Carlos it’s time to stop drinking.
Megan says one day this will all be over.
Jackie smiles and gives her a hug.
Eric says I am the perfect metaphor for America.
Maya rolls her eyes and says nothing at all.
Alicia tells Eric to please stop talking.
Eric thanks her for proving his point.
Carlos tells Eric to never stop talking.
He says, you are a poet, brother.
Eric asks Maya why she isn’t saying anything.
Maya says this whole night feels like déjà vu.
José says it must be your psychic powers.
Diana tells José to shut up.
No one says anything at all.
Eric says, I am the tired, the poor,
the huddled masses yearning to breathe free.
Megan looks out the window.
She wonders out loud what time it is.
Carlos sits up and looks at Diana.
He asks, how long has it been?
Maya sees them all reflected on the
window, mirrored, floating dim against the dark.
She tells Jackie to call Tony.
Someone asks her,
do you think something is wrong?
Maya says nothing at all.
